Friday, March 19th

Congratulations go to Jesseeca Nguyen for being named WSOC TV's "Outstanding Senior" for Hickory Ridge. This decision was based on teacher nominations for Jesseeca's scholastic excellence, her participation in extra-curricular activities, and community involvement.

 
 
 Senior orders and cap/gown will be delivered during lunches on Tuesday, Mar 23rd.  Seniors should bring their balance due on that day.  This is the only day scheduled for delivery!
 

Dont forget to sign up for the hoops for hope 3on3 basketball tournament. sign ups are during all lunches until tuesday the 23rd. dont miss out on your chance to ball it up for JDRF.
 
 
All students who participated in Junior Jumpstart last semester need to stop by Mrs. Hodsden's door in room 502 to verify whether all of your forms have been approved.  The last day to sign off on the forms will be Friday March 26th.  
 
Art club will meet after school Wednesday the 24th.  We'll discuss the induction ceremony, a fundraising idea and some field trip possibilities.  Don't forget that you need to meet your hours requirements by Monday. 


The HRHS choruses will be presenting their spring concert on Monday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.  Admission is free.  Come and enjoy a night of song.

There will be a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting in the gym this afternoon from 5:30 to 6:30 pm .
FCA is open to any students at Hickory Ridge, you don't have to be an athlete. Enter thru the doors by the guidance office and head to the gym. We'll have basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, and other fun stuff, come find out what FCA is all about.
 
FFA Livestock Judging Practice will be today from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Room 802
 

There will be a mandatory meeting of HOSA students who are attending state competition  and their parents Tonight at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria.

The Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls Golf team came in second at the season's first conference match. The Bulls next tee it up on Monday at Irish Creek Golf Club in Kannapolis

There will be a Volleyball Open Gym today from 3:00 to 4:30.  You must have a current physical to attend the open gym.  This is open to all 2009 Hickory Ridge volleyball players and anyone interested in playing volleyball next fall.

 

Wednesday, March 17th

Sign Ups for the JDRF Hoops For Hope 3-on-3 Basketball tournament will end Tuesday, March 23rd. The cost is $12 per team, $3 per person. Don't miss your chance to help find a cure for JDRF

Need help getting a dress for Prom?  Go to the Prom Boutique March 18th, 22nd, and 24th from 4-8 pm.  Stop by Student Services for directions.

Congratulations to the HRHS Advanced Chorus for earning a superior rating in Grade 6 at Large Festival Competition held at Wingate University yesterday.  This is the first grade 6 superior for the Advanced Mixed group.

The AP Stats review sessions will begin tomorrow. The review dates will also be held on the 24th, 31st and April 28th. We will meet in Mrs Denney's room from 2:20 until 3:20.

A representative from Neff will be on campus during all lunches tomorrow to take letter jacket orders. Make sure you pick up an order form from your coach if you lettered.
 

There will be a Volleyball Open Gym this Thursday, March 18th from 3:00 to 4:30. You must have a current physical to attend the open gym .

Scholarships 

 

The Virginia Tech College of Engineering will host an Open House on Monday, April 5, 2010.  This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about engineering and to visit VTU.  Please go to www.eng.vt.edu/EOH by March 28 , 2010 to register for the Open House.

Seniors going to RCCC -- There are three different scholarship opportunities for students planning on attending Rowan Cabarrus Community College next semester.  Two of the scholarships will go to a Hickory Ridge High School student. Please stop by the guidance office and sign a form if you are going to RCCC next year.  Ms. Navel will talk with you about which scholarships you are eligible for. Please sign up by Friday, March 19th.

For a Cabarrus County Senior:   The Concord Civitan Club will give four $500 scholarships this year.  To be eligible for this award, the student must demonstrate financial need, scholarship potential, and good citizenship.  If interested, come by the guidance office to pick up an application.  ALL information must be turned in by April 26 to Ms. Navel.

Senior Athletes:   If you are interested in competing for the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls Athletic Scholarship, please come by the guidance office as soon as possible to pick up a scholarship application.  One male and one female Hickory Ridge student will win $1,000 each, to be paid to the college they attend next year.  Applications are available in the guidance office.

SENIORS:  If you intend to major in MUSIC and would like information on a $500 scholarship, please stop by the guidance office for the Eugenia Brumley Music Scholarship.  You must have a 3.5 GPA and have participated in community service, to be eligible.  A Cabarrus County student will receive the scholarship.  Deadline to have everything mailed in is April 28th .

Seniors who are planning to attend Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU), a private, four-year University located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, should stop by the guidance office as soon as possible for scholarship information.  You may be eligible for a $8,000 scholarship. 

SENIORS: If you plan on majoring in agriculture in college next year, please stop by the guidance office and pick up an application for an Agriculture Scholarship.  Deadline for all material to be mailed is May 2nd.

Seniors who are planning to study Family and Consumer Sciences should stop by the guidance office for an application.  All materials need to be mailed by May 2, 2010. 

For a HRHS Student:  The Central Carolina Association of REALTORS, Inc, is giving a scholarship to one of our seniors.  Academic excellence, community involvement and/or financial need will be considered.  For an application, come by the guidance office.  All information must be turned in by April 27.

Seniors: HRHS will select one student for a $2,500 renewable scholarship from the State Employees Credit Union.  If you feel you have helped others, and have demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity and community involvement, there may be a scholarship available to you. Stop by the guidance office and pick up information on the SECU "People Helping People" Scholarship.  There is information you must give Ms. Navel by Monday, April 12th.

Current Seniors:  If you intend to major in education, please stop by the guidance office and sign up for information on TWO different scholarships:  The Administrators' Scholarship and the North Carolina Retired School Personnel Scholarship.  Sign up by Wednesday, March 17th in the Guidance Office.

Need help getting a dress for prom?  Go to the Prom Boutique for dresses, shoes, handbags, and jewelry.  It's all free.  Boutique dates are March 16th, 18th, 22nd, and 24th from 4-8pm.  Stop by our Student Services  office for and directions.

 

In the bear drive, the class with the most bears is Ms. Moss' class with 24. In second is Mrs. Stewarts class with nine.  Lastly we have Ms. Pleasants class with one.

Remember the class that brings in the most bears gets a doughnut party!
